Sandra was born in Saskatchewan in 1963, with her family moving to Whitehorse, Yukon in 1970. Her early exploration took creative form in painting, with highschool art teacher and renowned artist, Ted Harrison. Inspiration for Sandra's work also came from her grandmother, Ann Harbuz, an accomplished primitive folk artist. Weekends spent exploring the bush in the Yukon with a rockhound enthusiast father directed Sandra into work prospecting and further studies in geology and gemology.
Introduced to stone carving in 1991, Sandra opened Elemental Designs in 1994. Her studio reflects the success of a prolific career. Sandra's work can be found in public and private collections across Canada, Europe, Japan and the United States. Sandra continues to support her community by conducting lectures and workshops on the aspects of working with reclaimed elements.
